Overview
YanaScript uses a small set of cookies and similar browser storage to keep accounts signed in, protect sessions, remember preferences, and store your cookie choice.
We do not currently use advertising cookies, and optional analytics tooling is not active in the product today.
What this policy covers
This policy covers cookies and similar browser storage used on the YanaScript website and application.
We use the term "cookies" broadly here to include HTTP cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, and similar client-side state used to keep the product working.
Essential cookies
Essential cookies and storage are required for core product functions such as sign-in, session continuity, security checks, and remembering necessary preferences.
These items are not used for advertising, and they are not optional if you want to use authenticated parts of YanaScript.
Authentication and session cookies
YanaScript uses httpOnly session cookies for account access, refresh, and authenticated product usage. These cookies are set by the application backend and are essential to sign-in and secure session handling.
We do not expose session secrets to page scripts through these httpOnly cookies.
Security and abuse-prevention storage
We may use cookies or equivalent client-side state to support account security, CSRF protection, fraud prevention, or login and session integrity.
Examples include CSRF tokens readable by the application when required for safe form submission, and short-lived proof or mode flags used only for product security workflows.
Preference storage and localStorage
YanaScript stores some choices in the browser so the product feels consistent between visits. Examples include:
- display theme or editor workspace preferences,
- product workspace preference such as transcript or captions focus,
- local onboarding or guidance dismissal state,
- device-side display currency preference,
- editor UI settings such as zoom level or custom shortcut maps,
- local draft or recovery helpers tied to an open editing session.
These entries are functional product state, not advertising profiles.
Cookie consent storage
When you respond to the cookie banner, YanaScript stores your choice in localStorage and in a first-party cookie named yanascript_cookie_consent.
Allowed values today are essential and all. Because optional analytics are not active today, both choices currently apply to the same essential storage in practice. We keep both values so a future optional category can be introduced without breaking saved consent.
Optional analytics and future tools
Optional analytics cookies are not currently active in YanaScript.
If we introduce optional analytics or similar non-essential tools later, we will update this policy, update the consent banner, and describe the new category before or when it becomes active.
What we do not use
As of the date at the top of this page, YanaScript does not use:
- advertising cookies,
- third-party ad-tech trackers on the product surface,
- always-on optional analytics cookies,
- cross-site marketing pixels for YanaScript product usage.
Your choices
The consent banner lets you choose Essential only or Accept current cookies.
Because optional analytics are not active today, both choices currently allow the same essential storage needed to use YanaScript. The difference is recorded for future optional categories.
You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time, but doing so may sign you out or reset local preferences.
Browser controls
Most browsers let you block, delete, or limit cookies and site data. Browser controls vary by device and vendor.
Blocking all cookies or all site data may prevent sign-in, interrupt sessions, or remove saved preferences and local editor state.
Product impact of clearing storage
If you clear YanaScript cookies or local storage, you may need to sign in again, repeat onboarding or guidance dismissals, lose unsynced local editor preferences, or see the cookie banner again.
Clearing storage does not delete server-side transcripts or account records, but it can disrupt local convenience state on that device.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product, infrastructure, or legal requirements change. When that happens, we will update the date at the top of the page.
Material changes to optional cookie categories will also be reflected in the consent banner before or when those categories become active.
